Rachel Keller

RachelRachel Keller is a fictionalized character in The Ring movie series. The character was created by producer-writer Ehren Kruger and played by Naomi Watts, serves as the protagonist of The Ring and The Ring Two which share a number of similarities to Reiko Asakawa, the protagonist of the original Japanese films.Introduced in 2002's film, Rachel is an investigative journalist who must figure out how to avoid death after watching an unlucky video tape she discovered while investigating the death of her niece. Rachel is required to look into the past of Samara Morgan after her son becomes ill with a mysterious illness. Ruth asks Rachel Keller, an investigative journalist to find out the truth behind Katie's death. Rachel is told by Ruth, her sister, that she discovered Katie's deformed body in the closet. She also revealed that Katie passed away from an attack on her heart. Katie's close friends recount to Rachel the tale of the cursed videotape myth and Katie's best friend Becca is in a mental institution for watching Katie lose her life. Katie's boyfriend, along with two of her best acquaintances, also passed away in bizarre accidents that took place on the same night at 10:30 pm. Rachel travels to Shelter Mountain Inn and stays in Cabin 12, which is the same cabin that Katie and her companions were watching the videotape with the curse. Rachel finds the tape and after it is finished the phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel is called Noah Clay as a video analyst by her ex-boyfriend. Rachel later discovers that Aidan (her son who was with Noah) looked at the tape and said that he believed her. Rachel investigates the tape for the lighthouse and finds it's located on Moesko Island. This was the home of Anna Morgan, an evil horse breeder cursed to be on the cursed tape. Rachel finds out that Anna had an adopted daughter named Samara. Samara was capable of creating disturbing images in the minds humans, animals as well as objects. Rachel is forced to flee Anna's widower Richard when she begins asking questions about Samara.
