Cynthia Ann Crawford, born on February 20, 1966, is an American actress, model and TV personality. During the 1980s and 1990s she was one of the most popular supermodels and frequently appeared on magazine covers and runways along with fashion shows. Then, she began acting and launched a company. In her sophomore year of high school, she got a call from a local clothing shop for modeling jobs which she later discovered was a prank by two students. The following year, another company took on a few high school students, including Crawford, to be their models (including an event for fashion). Roger Legel, a local photographer, approached Crawford to shoot her. He was in charge of the photo shoot of another college student for DeKalb Nite Weekly. Crawford became the first photo shoot. Crawford was inspired to take up modeling due to the favorable feedback and photos she received. She began working with a small modeling agency. Elite Model Management sold the agency shortly after she signed. She participated in Elite's Look of the Year contest at the age of 17 and reached the national finals.
